About

Touch needs a standard.

Every tactile sensor speaks its own language. Contour gives them a common one, so touch data is portable across hardware, datasets, and machine learning.

The problem

A glove, a gripper, and a robot hand all sense contact, but each exports its own shape, its own units, its own format. Data collected on one sensor rarely runs on another. Every lab rebuilds drivers, calibration, recording, and visualization from scratch.

The standard

Contour defines one representation for touch: normalized taxels, geometry, and pose on a shared clock. Any device folds into the same frame, so a policy trained on one hand transfers to another and a dataset recorded once is usable everywhere.

Open by default

Not another proprietary SDK. Contour is meant to be owned and extended by the field, in the open. It starts as one person's proposal, and the hope is that it stops being one.
